(las 58 primeras diapositivas son las que entraron en el examen anterior).  He detectado un error en la diapositiva 55, que se titula "cromatina" cuando realmente aparecen los cromosomas. type='text'></title><content type='html'>COLESTEROL: ¿BUENO O MALO?&lt;br /&gt;¿QUÉ ES EL COLESTEROL?&lt;br /&gt;Aunque hoy en día la palabra &lt;a href="http://www.mundocolesterol.com/index.html"&gt;colesterol&lt;/a&gt; está llena de connotaciones negativas, asociada a una mala alimentación, a problemas cardiovasculares y obesidad, en realidad se trata de un elemento necesario para nuestro organismo. Lo importante es conocer qué es el &lt;a href="http://www.mundocolesterol.com/index.html"&gt;colesterol&lt;/a&gt;, cómo funciona y cuándo es perjudicial para la salud.&lt;br /&gt;El &lt;a href="http://www.mundocolesterol.com/index.html"&gt;colesterol&lt;/a&gt; no es otra cosa que un lípido, un tipo de grasa, que participa en muchos procesos fisiológicos importantes.&lt;br /&gt;§         El colesterol está presente en las membranas plasmáticas de todas nuestras células, cumpliendo la importante misión de controlar la estabilidad de la membrana.&lt;br /&gt;§         Además, el colesterol cumple más funciones en otras partes de tu organismo, por ejemplo, sirve para fabricar el ácido biliar, que es la sustancia que forma la bilis, que como sabes juega un importantísimo papel en la digestión de las grasas que ingerimos en el alimento.&lt;br /&gt;§          El colesterol también sirve para sintetizar algunas vitaminas; por ejemplo, la vitamina D se fabrica en nuestro organismo gracias al colesterol que guardamos debajo de nuestra piel, el cual se transforma en esta vitamina por la acción de los rayos UV del sol. De ahí que es bueno que a los bebés les de el sol, para poder fabricar la vitamina D, que es necesaria para poder aprovechar el calcio que toman en la leche.&lt;br /&gt;§         Por último, el colesterol también sirve para fabricar numerosas hormonas de nuestro cuerpo, que como estudiarás más adelante, son sustancias que controlan procesos tan importantes como la aparición de los caracteres sexuales.&lt;br /&gt;Parte del &lt;a href="http://www.mundocolesterol.com/index.html"&gt;colesterol&lt;/a&gt; que necesitamos se produce de manera natural, mientras que parte proviene de los alimentos que comemos.&lt;br /&gt;En efecto, nuestro hígado es capaz de producir el colesterol necesario para el organismo. Sin embargo, a través de la alimentación, podemos recibir una cantidad adicional de colesterol que, en muchas ocasiones, es perjudicial para la salud, sobre todo para el corazón. Veremos por qué.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;El colesterol es una grasa presente en todas las células del organismo. La mayoría de los tejidos pueden producir colesterol, pero se sintetiza principalmente en el hígado. Se sintetiza aproximadamente el 50% de las necesidades de colesterol mientras que el resto se obtiene de los alimentos de origen animal presentes en la dieta.&lt;br /&gt;Para que el &lt;a href="http://www.mundocolesterol.com/index.html"&gt;colesterol&lt;/a&gt; llegue hasta las células, necesita ser transportado por la sangre, y para ello lo hace unido a unas proteínas, que se denominan lipoproteínas,  que se encuentran en el plasma  sanguíneo, y cuya misión es transportar lípidos por la sangre formando una especie de paquete.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; Hay de dos tipos de proteínas que transportan colesterol por la sangre:&lt;br /&gt;§         Lipoproteína  de baja densidad, LDL, conocida como el “&lt;a href="http://www.mundocolesterol.com/index.html"&gt;colesterol&lt;/a&gt; malo”&lt;br /&gt;§         Lipoproteína  de alta densidad, HDL, se conoce como el “&lt;a href="http://www.mundocolesterol.com/index.html"&gt;colesterol&lt;/a&gt; bueno”&lt;br /&gt;El colesterol malo (colesterol LDL), es el que se deposita en las paredes de las arterias y contribuye a formar la arteriosclerosis y a desarrollar las enfermedades cardiovasculares.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;El colesterol bueno (colesterol HDL), lo que hace es captar el colesterol malo o LDL y llevarlo al hígado, donde se metaboliza.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;COLESTEROL MALO&lt;br /&gt;Placa&lt;br /&gt;Corte de una arteriaLas LDL son las encargadas de transportar el colesterol a cualquier célula de nuestro organismo que lo necesite. La mayor parte del colesterol es transportado unido a las LDL. Mientras más rica en colesterol y grasas (saturadas) es una alimentación, mayor ha de ser  la cantidad de LDL que las transporte por nuestra sangre. Puede llegar un momento en que los niveles de las LDL sean tan altos que estas empiecen a adherirse a las paredes de los vasos sanguíneos, formando placas, lo cual es el origen de importantes enfermedades como la aterosclerosis.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;El aumento progresivo de la placa de grasa en los vasos sanguíneos, hace que poco a poco estos vayan reduciendo su diámetro y perdiendo su elasticidad, dificultando así el paso de la sangre y el aporte de oxigeno adecuado a los tejidos.&lt;br /&gt;Los riesgos que conlleva la aterosclerosis son muchos. Por ejemplo, el estrechamiento de los vasos, puede ocasionar que se obstruya el conducto debido a la aparición de un coágulo.  Cuando se acumula esta placa en las arterias coronarias que riegan el corazón, aumenta el riesgo de sufrir un infarto de miocardio. Lo mismo sucede en el infarto cerebral.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;COLESTEROL BUENO&lt;br /&gt;Como hemos visto, el hígado, entre otras muchas funciones, es el encargado de “reciclar” el colesterol, y aprovecharlo para la producción de compuestos necesarios en nuestro organismo, (fabricación de bilis, vitamina D, hormonas, etc.). Las lipoproteínas que realizan la conducción del colesterol hacia el hígado son las HDL, que lo retiran de nuestra sangre  impidiendo que se acumule en los vasos sanguíneos. Algunos expertos consideran que el HDL también elimina el exceso de colesterol de las placas de las arterias y, así, reduce su acumulación.&lt;br /&gt;El colesterol HDL se denomina «colesterol bueno» porque se cree que los niveles elevados de esta sustancia reducen el riesgo de enfermedades cardiovasculares. Las personas con niveles bajos de HDL tienen un mayor riesgo cardiovascular. Los niveles bajos de HDL a menudo son una consecuencia de la inactividad física, la obesidad o el hábito de fumar.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;La elevada concentración de colesterol en nuestra sangre, puede tener orígenes diversos relacionados tanto con el consumo excesivo, como por factores genéticos.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Como ya sabes, el colesterol sanguíneo proviene de dos fuentes: una fuente propia, que corresponde a la producción del organismo, en especial en el hígado, y una fuente externa, que proviene de los alimentos que consumimos. Independientemente de que provenga de los alimentos que comes o de tu propio cuerpo, puede haber niveles de colesterol saludables en tu sangre. El problema es cuando en tu sangre hay un nivel excesivo de colesterol.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Las concentraciones altas de colesterol en la sangre pueden ser debidas bien a que se ingiere demasiado colesterol, o bien a una producción excesiva de éste en el organismo, lo cual se puede deber a factores genéticos,  ya que muchas personas heredan genes que hacen que produzcan demasiado. Por ejemplo, en las células hepáticas se fabrican proteínas encargadas de eliminar el colesterol de la sangre. Si una alteración en el gen que origina esa proteína disminuye su concentración o su eficacia, el resultado puede ser un aumento en los niveles de colesterol, aterosclerosis y enfermedades
